Dominion Voting Systems is suing Fox News for defamation in a $1.6 billion lawsuit. They allege that the network told lies about election fraud during the 2020 election, in order to line its own pockets.
Dominion claims Fox News ruined the reputation of their company.
Various notable personalities from Fox News have been testifying in depositions for the case.
Fox News host, Sean Hannity, a close ally of Donald Trump, is scheduled.
Lou Dobbs, a former host and also a Trump confidant, was questioned on Tuesday.
Tucker Carlson appeared for testimony on Friday.
Jeanine Pirro and Steve Doocy, a Fox & Friends host, were questioned earlier in August.
Maria Bartiromo will be deposed on September 8.
Shepard Smith, who quit Fox last year after an argument with other hosts, was also questioned.
Fox News Media said in a statement, “We are confident we will prevail as freedom of the press is foundational to our democracy and must be protected, in addition to the damages claims being outrageous, unsupported and not rooted in sound financial analysis.”
Dominion says that Fox News defamed them by falsely claiming that the company conspired to rig the election against Donald Trump, and that many of the guests on air made and were encouraged to repeat false claims.
Dominion says it has copies of emails and text messages sent by Fox employees, and many of these messages contain information that proves that Fox knew that the information it was putting out to the public was false.
Fox insists that they were simply reporting on what was already out there from the ex-president and his supporters.
Dan Webb, a lawyer on Fox News’ defense team, told the Washington Post, “There are very few events in the last 50 years in this country that I think are more newsworthy than our president alleging that our entire Democratic system was put on its head by a voting machine company stealing votes.”
