A tourist died while on a water slide at a luxury resort. The incident, caught on video, initially went unnoticed by fellow resort-goers.
According to reports, the victim, identified as 65-year-old Ali Cilga, was vacationing at a five-star resort in Manavgat, Turkey, with his family. On June 26, while descending the water slide headfirst, he struck his head on the pool’s concrete floor.
Footage from the incident shows several swimmers passing by Cilga, failing to recognize the severity of the situation. Eventually, a few observant tourists noticed his motionless body. They quickly removed him from the pool, and a man, believed to be the hotel’s lifeguard, attempted to revive him.
Sources indicate that lifeguards had previously warned Cilga not to go headfirst down the slide, citing the potential risks involved. Nevertheless, he disregarded the warning.
Following the incident, Cilga, a Turkish national whose specific place of residence is undisclosed, was rushed to a nearby hospital. His injuries were severe and he passed away on July 3.
Cilga and his family had been visiting the resort to celebrate the Eid al-Adha holiday.
Authorities have ordered an autopsy, and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Cilga’s untimely death is underway.
