On Sunday evening, October 1, 2023, an incident at Six Flags Over Georgia led to the death of a park employee, Andrea Crook. The 43-year-old resident of Villa Rica, Georgia, was ejected from the back of a moving van located on the park’s premises.
The Cobb County Police provided information on the incident. They reported that Crook, along with several other adult passengers and two young people, were all park employees. They were in the rear cargo area of a 2004 Ford Econoline van. The vehicle, driven by a 27-year-old park employee named Asia Hendricks, was making a left turn uphill on an internal road inside the theme park when the unfortunate event occurred.
Following the accident, emergency services from the park and the locality swiftly took Crook to Grandy Memorial Hospital. She succumbed to a severe head injury she received upon impact with the ground.
The vehicle involved lacked seats in the cargo space, where the passengers, including Crook, were situated. The purpose of the van ride was to transport park employees for the upcoming annual Fright Fest event, a well-attended Halloween feature of the park.
Six Flags Over Georgia management has been fully supportive and cooperative throughout the police’s ongoing investigation. While the driver, Asia Hendricks, has not faced any charges as of now, authorities are thoroughly looking into the accident’s details. They aim to discern if there are any legal implications as the investigation moves forward.
