“Jeopardy!” two-time winner and high school educator, Jen Feldman, recently revealed an unexpected reaction from her students in Brooklyn, New York City. During the personal interview portion of the game show, Feldman unveiled a unique aspect of her life that seems to alter her students’ perception of her: her vegetarian lifestyle.

Feldman stated that although her students are generally receptive, they are unusually shocked to learn she does not consume meat. “I work with a really awesome, diverse group of kids on the Lower East Side, and every difference of opinion that we might have about politics, culture, anything, they don’t even bat an eyelash. But the second that they find out I’m a vegetarian…,” Feldman remarked in the interview.

Host Ken Jennings, perplexed by her statement, inquired if her vegetarianism was indeed an issue for her students. Feldman confirmed, stating her students are rendered mute upon learning she abstains from meat. Jennings, surprised by their reaction, stated he would have thought the Gen Z generation to be more open to vegetarianism. Feldman, finding the situation amusing, admitted she too was taken aback by her students’ strong response to her dietary choice. She humorously conceded it was a significant issue for them. Jennings, in a supportive tone, expressed his belief that with time, her students would likely come to accept her vegetarianism.

The candid interview caught the attention of fans and a clip of it was posted on the official “Jeopardy!” Instagram page, eliciting numerous reactions. One alleged student confirmed the accuracy of Feldman’s account, while another viewer commented on the humor and enjoyment derived from the segment. A third person humorously noted the situation could have been more shocking if Feldman had declared she was a vegan.

Feldman’s success on “Jeopardy!” has been noteworthy. In her appearances on September 19th and 20th, she secured a total of $14,050, defeating competitors Santhosh Sastry and Sarah Preisinger by a significant margin. However, Feldman’s winning streak ended on September 23, 2024, when she lost in the final “Jeopardy!” round to David Erb, who won with a total of $17,655. Feldman finished the game with $4,799, landing her in third place.

Despite the end of her winning streak, Feldman will undoubtedly be remembered by fans for her humor, charisma, and the intriguing tales she shared from her classroom.
