July 18: The ex-wife of former President Donald Trump died of blunt impact injuries in her Upper East Apartment on Thursday. She was 73. Emergency workers found her dead at her home at around 12:40 p.m.
First breaking media reports indicated that the former socialite and businesswoman, mother of three of Donald Trump’s children – Donald Jr, Ivanka and Eric – was found at the bottom of a staircase in her apartment.
The New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner ruled her death an accident in a news release on Friday, and it was reported that her injuries were consistent with a fall. The Medical Examiner’s office refused to provide any further details.
A spokesperson for the New York City Police Department told news outlets that Ivana Trump was found next to the stairs, after someone called police to check in on her, because she had not been seen for a while.
There was no sign of forced entry at the home, according to police.
A family friend revealed that Ivana had not been well for weeks and had been unable to get out of the house due to hip problems, making it difficult for her to walk.
The former president announced his ex-wife’s death on Thursday.“I am very saddened to inform all of those that loved her, of which there are many, that Ivana Trump has passed away at her home in New York City. She was a wonderful, beautiful, and amazing woman, who led a great and inspirational life. Her pride and joy were her three children, Donald Jr., Ivanka, and Eric. She was so proud of them, as we were all so proud of her. Rest In Peace, Ivana!” Donald Trump said via a post on social media.
