Thursday, July 14: A mysterious disappearance of a 39-year-old mom is causing police and families to search for clues in San Antonio.
A mother of a three-year-old and a preteen, left for work on July 5, and hasn’t been seen since.
Christina “Chrissy” Lee Powell was wearing dark pants and a long-sleeved shirt, as she left her San Antonio home at around 10:30 a.m. She appears on her video doorbell camera footage.
Her mother says she rushed out of the house, saying she was late for work, got into her vehicle, a 2020 Nissan Rogue, but left her cell phone and Apple Watch behind, an unusual occurrence, that could be a clue.
Police were notified by concerned family on July 6, and after an employee inquired about Chrissy not showing up for work. It took a few days for the police to start investigating her disappearance as a missing person case.
Chrissy works as a paralegal, and called the office that morning to say she would be late.
Chrissy’s mom, Claudia Mobley, 70, who was at the home on the morning she disappeared, said Chrissy left her cell phone in the bathroom. She said there was nothing unusual about her interaction with her daughter, but that Chrissy was in a rush.
It is reported that she left medication behind that she needed for a medical condition.
According to the family, there has been no activity in her bank account since she left the house.
A police flyer describes Powell as 5 feet, 2 inches tall, 120 pounds and right-handed, with shoulder-length blonde hair.
Family and friends are desperately trying to find Chrissy. Why did she rush out of the house that morning? What happened before she left? Why was her phone left behind? Did she receive a call? What are police finding out from her cell phone?
Police are asking anyone with information related to Powell’s whereabouts to call the department’s Missing Persons Unit at 210-207-7660.
