#1: Bigfoot Paranoia:
In a bizarre incident in Oklahoma, a man confessed that he killed his fishing partner friend, because he feared that his friend was going to feed him to Sasquatch/Bigfoot.
Larry Sanders fought with his friend, Jimmy Knighten, for an hour, thinking that Jimmy had tricked him into being at the river in order to trap him as prey for Bigfoot.
Sanders confessed to his daughter that he strangled Knighten at the river and killed him.
The alleged murderer has a history of problems with the law and has two outstanding warrants for drug-related cases. He was placed on probation in 2019 for bringing meth into a jail.
It appears he was under the influence of something. He is now facing a first-degree murder charge for real.
#2: Biden Meeting Saudi Crown Prince:
President Biden will be meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Friday.
Will he shake the prince’s hand?
Biden has previously vowed that he held the prince responsible for the 2018 murder of Jamal Khashoggi, a Saudi dissident and Washington Post columnist.
The White House press secretary tried to avoid the question by saying that due to the coronavirus, in general on the trip, “We’re going to try to minimize contact as much as possible.”
But that didn’t seem to be the case when Biden landed in Tel Aviv and shook hands and embraced officials that greeted him there.
Biden is scheduled to meet Prince Mohammed and his father, King Salman, on Friday in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, before a summit on Saturday.
#3: Murdaugh Charged With Killing Wife and Son:
Alex Murdaugh, 54, a prominent lawyer from a powerful family in South Carolina, who was previously indicted for financial crimes, was charged with the murder of his wife, Maggie Murdaugh, 52, and one of his sons, Paul Murdaugh, 22, on July 14.
The murders occurred at a secluded hunting estate owned by the family.
On the day of the incident, Murdaugh called 911 from the family’s estate outside of Charleston, and said that he found his wife and son dead when he arrived home.
Murdaugh has been disbarred, and is being investigated in relation to other incidents as well.
#4: Virginia Flooding:
Powerful storms caused heavy flooding and landslides that damaged more than 100 homes in Virginia on Thursday morning. Multiple people were at first said to be missing, but most have been accounted for. When the Dismal River overflowed, homes were rooted out of their foundations and people were forced to escape in waist-deep water.
No fatalities or injuries were reported.
#5: Abortion Emergency:
Eighty House Democrats and 18 Senate Democrats are urging President Biden to declare a public health emergency due to the Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
Senators Elizabeth Warren, Cory Booker and Alex Padilla sent a letter to the president and Health Secretary Xavier Becerra on Wednesday, requesting that Biden make the emergency move.
Although Biden has issued executive actions on behalf of reproductive rights, and has expressed the need for filibuster reform, the Democratic lawmakers are encouraging him to go even further to secure abortion rights in the US.
