#1: Grand Jury Investigating Trump:

A special grand jury in Atlanta is investigating former president Donald Trump’s attempts in Georgia to overturn the 2020 presidential election. The jury subpoenaed some of Trump’s inner circle, including his former attorney, Rudy Giuliani, and Senator Lindsey Graham. Others being called to testify are lawyer John Eastman, Cleta Mitchell, Kenneth Chesebro and Jenna Ellis, all of whom allegedly advised the Trump campaign on strategies for overturning the election in Georgia and other swing states. The 23-person grand jury has heard testimony in recent weeks from several witnesses, including some who had direct contact with Trump and his associates in late 2020 and early 2021. The grand jury will continue to review and collect evidence and testimony to determine if any individuals should be charged with crimes.

#2: Jan. 6 Hearings:

The House of Representatives committee investigating the January 6, 2021 insurrection will hold its seventh live public hearing on July 12 at 10 AM. It is expected to focus on the planning that occurred before the crowd gathered at and stormed the Capitol, and who was involved. They will probe the connections between the Trump administration and various extremist groups at the rally, including the Proud Boys, Three Percenters and others.

The committee will also question witnesses about Trump’s response on the day of the attack and what he did and didn’t do to stop it.

#3: Boris Johnson:

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is fighting to stay in power in Great Britain after the resignations of two of his top Cabinet ministers and others. Johnson’s coalition is falling apart and it is unclear how long he can hold on. The ministers quit stating that they didn’t approve of Johnson’s handling of a scandal involving a senior official accused of sexual misconduct. Johnson’s opponents hope to have a new no-confidence vote. He survived a no-confidence vote in June, but 41% of lawmakers voted against him. In one of the minister’s resignation letters, he said that the last confidence vote showed that a large number of Conservative Party lawmakers had lost trust in Johnson’s leadership.

#4: Dumping COVID Vaccines:

13.6 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine supplied by the company Oxford-AstraZeneca are being trashed by Canada because no one wants them. Canada purchased 20 million doses under contract and used over 2 million in 2021. There have been rare reports of blood clots and people became fearful of the brand. In 2021, Nigeria had to destroy over one million AstraZeneca doses because they were donated too close to their expiration date. Millions of doses were discarded in Great Britain because they were expiring, after experts advised that people under 40 should avoid the company’s vaccine due to the possible link to blood clots.  COVID-19 vaccination providers all over the world have been discarding their supplies. The vaccines have a six-month shelf life.

#5: Texas Cover-Up:

Mayor Don McLaughlin of Uvalde, Texas is concerned that a coverup is occurring in the investigation into the handling of the response to the Uvalde school shooting May 24, which killed 19 children and two teachers. He said that the Governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, should intervene in how the Texas Department of Public Safety is handling their investigation. McLaughlin pointed fingers at Col. Steven McCraw, the head of the department, questioning whether he was protecting his agency. On the day of the shooting, armed officers waited outside a classroom for more than an hour before trying to stop the gunman. McGraw has placed the blame on the school police chief Pedro Arredondo. The Mayor said he hasn’t been briefed regarding the investigation and he suspects that information is being altered or covered up so that the truth doesn’t come out.
