A Shoreline, Washington man is accused of decapitating and murdering his 70-year-old mother in her home in the middle of the night Wednesday. 

Collin Boldizsar, 29, is accused in the killing of his mother Laurie Collins. 

Police were called after neighbors heard screams and loud noises coming from the mother’s apartment during the night, where apparently the man lived as well, even though there was a no-contact order against him. 

When police arrived, Boldizsar admitted that he was in violation of the restraining order when asked, and told officers that his mother was at work, but he changed his story after they mentioned that her car was still there. 

Boldizsar resisted letting police in at first, but they were able to get into the house and found the gruesome sight in the upstairs bedroom. A baseball bat was also found at the scene. 

“This was an extraordinary, violent offense, demonstrating that the defendant is a significant threat to community safety,” said Terry Carlstrom, a senior deputy prosecuting attorney.

The suspect is being held on $2 million bail and charged with second-degree murder. He will be formerly charged on July 5. 

Laurie Collins was a budget manager at Seattle Pacific University for the School of Theology.
