It might have been the scariest moment of her life.
Michaelle Whalen captured on video the moment her husband’s truck was struck by lightning. She was riding in a car following the truck that her husband and three children were in.
A storm was brewing as they were leaving St. Petersburg, Florida and driving on I-75 Friday evening.
She decided to use her camera phone to video the sky that was lit up by lightning.
Suddenly, Edward Whalen’s truck was zapped by a huge bolt.
He and his kids were not injured, but the truck was “completely fried.”
Mr. Whelan said it felt like a “buzz” when the truck was hit and it caused his daughter in the front passenger seat to practically jump into his lap.
They were able to get out of the vehicle safely, but were in shock.
In a lighter moment, Whelan said, “It was pretty wild. After everything was done, my son said we needed to check ourselves in a couple days for super powers.”
They were lucky to be alive.
