On Friday night, the White House is in for a real treat!
British long-time star, Elton John, is giving a performance under a large tent being constructed on the South Lawn. President Biden and his wife, first lady Jill Biden, will address the audience.
The Friday night event is called, “A Night When Hope and History Rhyme.” The title is taken from a poem by Seamus Heaney that President Biden has been known to quote.
The event is organized by A&E Networks and the History Channel. The performance will be aired at a later date.
The concert will honor the life and artistic work of Elton John, and the “everyday history-makers in the audience, including teachers, nurses, frontline workers, mental health advocates, students, LGBTQ+ advocates,” a White House release said. About 2,000 people are invited, CNN reported.
President Biden has had musical performers at the White House in the past. Last week, Grammy winning singer/songwriter, James Taylor sang at an event celebrating the passage of legislation on issues Biden holds dear, including prescription drug prices and climate change.
Elton John was invited by former President Trump to perform at the White House, but the superstar declined the invitation.
