A lightning storm forced Lady Gaga to stop her performance at the final show of her Chromatica Ball tour in Miami, Florida.
The performance was almost over as she had tears in her eyes and addressed the 65,000 fans at the outdoor area, telling them to “calmly” take shelter.
She hoped it would be a short interruption but the concert at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium had to be terminated.
She apologized to her fans on Instagram. “We really tried to finish the show tonight in Miami but we couldn’t because even when the rain stopped there was lightning striking right down to the ground so close to us,” she said.
Concerned about the safety of her crew and fans, she said, “I don’t know what I would do if anything happened to anybody in the audience or to any member of my crew.”
Many of Lady Gaga’s fans took shelter in a protected area of the stadium, and sang “Rain on Me,” an appropriate choice. The singing was accompanied by thunder.
Lady Gaga was notably upset and was seen crying about the cancellation of the concert. She had six more songs to sing.
The tour has consisted of 20 performances, with breaks between concerts, due to Gaga’s fibromyalgia requiring her to rest. She is often in pain and has had to cancel performances in the past. She says that she is much improved now and was excited about the Chromatica Ball tour.
After the Miami concert, she said on Instagram: “Part of why I decided not to finish the show was because I am healthy. It’s a healthy decision for all of you and for myself as well. So I love you… and I’ll see you next time on stage.”
