Did someone say luck? After 29 consecutive draws, the Illinois Mega Millions Lottery has finally been won by two individuals. These two have definitely won in life.

Since no one was able to get the correct combination since April 15, the jackpot prize amounted to a whopping $1.34 billion.

13-36-45-57-67 and Magic Ball 14 was the winning combination.

The amount is reported to be the third largest lottery jackpot in US history.

When they bought the ticket, the two winners decided to split the prize should they win. The ticket was purchased at a gas station and convenience store in Des Plaines on July 29. After weeks of consulting with lawyers and financial experts, the winners decided to take the reduced lump sum, similar to the option chosen by most winners.

The prize would amount to $780.5 million, and around $554.6 million after tax deductions.

Luis Rodriguez, the Claims Manager of the Illinois Lottery, worked with the two and their lawyers through the process. He said, “It feels surreal.” Everyone was excited and he was happy for them. He also shared that this was the largest amount that he worked with in his years of working in the company.

Like most of the winners before them, the two new millionaires chose to remain unnamed. The state allows anonymity for those whose prizes are worth $250,000 and above.

Eight weeks after winning the lottery, leaving everyone on pins and needles, the two have finally come forward and claimed their winnings.
