No one ever thought they would live to see the day horses got a pair of designer sneakers to finish off their sleek look, but here we are.
It is time to get your beloved horse a pair of sneakers, which couldn’t have come at a better time. As we approach the holiday season, you can get your horse decked out in a pair of Air Jordans.
A company has decided to bring some style into the horse-riding world by reproducing popular versions of sneakers and customizing the high-end sneaker designs for horses.
The company, Horse Kicks, has branded itself as a retailer of horse sneakers, and it creates popular branded sneakers for equines. Horse owners looking for a gift for their animals are invited to chuck as much as $5,000 on the horse footwear.
Horse Kicks has taken immense pride in being the world’s first retail store for custom horse sneakers.
Don’t forget you will need two pairs per horse.
A single shoe’s retail price starts at $1,200. It will cost horse owners a pretty penny to get their horses looking dapper and ready for the fashion races.
Horse Kicks mentions on its website that it will donate a percentage of the sales to Sneaker Ball Lex, a charity event dedicated to giving back to various local minority groups.
Marcus Floyd, a shoe artist based in Lexington, Kentucky, is the genius behind the sneaker creations. Floyd, also known by his artistic brand name, Infinite Kustomz, has been a “sneakerhead” for most of his life. He was a student of The Shoe Surgeon’s SRGN Academy, where he studied the art of shoe deconstruction and reconstruction to make customized pairs. Yes, it’s a real school.
Floyd has remade popular sneaker designs, including New Balance 650, Air Jordan 1, and Yeezy Boost 350 V2 for horses using the decon and recon techniques he learned from the SRGN Academy, a renowned and respected school among the sneaker community. The horse sneakers have retained the original sneaker look while adjusting to the unique design of a horse’s hooves.
Floyd posted similar images of the original sneakers next to his custom horseshoe designs. He said his horseshoe designs were wearable art that he had designed over a medical horse boot and then covered with the repurposed sneakers. The sneakers he has redesigned are from popular brands, including Yeezy’s, Air Jordans, and New Balance.
Floyd said the designs are Horse Kick’s debut collection of sneakers and will be donated to the Sneaker Ball Lex and auctioned at the event.
According to Floyd, the creation was one of his craziest collaborations. He said that trying to come up with a sneaker for horses and figuring out what they would look like while also trying to use as much from the original shoe designs as possible to keep the authenticity of the shoes was a great experience.
To promote its new product, Horse Kicks has posted a TikTok video that shows a horse gloriously plopping a Nike sneaker on the ground. It continues to show other branded versions of the horse sneakers.
