Jennifer Aniston is mourning the death of her father, John Aniston. He died at the age of 89 on November 11. 

Many may remember charismatic John Aniston, who was famous for his role in the television hit soap-opera drama series “Days of our Lives.”

The veteran TV star was known for his phenomenal acting in the role of Victor Kiriakis in the drama series since 1985. Jennifer Aniston, famous for her role in “Friends” and several films, announced via Instagram that her father passed on Friday.

Her Instagram tribute consisted of several pictures of the father-daughter duo and a message saying that her father was one of the sweetest human beings she had ever known. He had passed away on 11/11, a date that had a lot of significance to her. She said that his death had been timed perfectly, and the date would hold even more meaning in her life in the future.

According to Jennifer’s message, her father died peacefully on Veterans Day. John Aniston was a veteran who served in the US Navy for several years in the 1950s as an intelligence officer after graduating from the Pennsylvania State University.

During a 2019 interview with the Television Academy, John Aniston spoke about his early years as a military man and recalled his early theater performances while still on active duty in the Navy.

John Aniston was born in Greece as Yannis Anastassakis, and in 1985, he started playing the role that would propel him to fame, Victor Kiriakis, on the TV drama/soap opera “Days of our Lives.” His performance in the series earned him a 2017 Daytime Emmy nomination.

Following his passing, “Days of Our Lives” issued a tribute message on social media as a video montage highlighting his time in the production. The series also posted on Twitter and Instagram that they were heartbroken by the loss of John Aniston, who they considered to be a dear family member.

Earlier this year, Aniston won the Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award for his “Days of our Lives” performance. Although he could not attend the ceremony, his daughter Jennifer Aniston accepted the award on his behalf.

Jennifer, who appeared at the award ceremony virtually, said the award was an opportunity to pay tribute to an iconic figure in the daytime television world. She added that the award recognized the lifelong achievements of her father, who was a great and well-respected actor.

Peacock, which airs the television series, said that John Aniston’s final appearance on the series would be on December 26. “Days of Our Lives” is one of the longest-running TV shows in the world, airing regular episodes since 1965.

John Aniston is survived by his daughter Jennifer Aniston, his son Alex Aniston and Sherry Rooney, Alex’s mother.
