Following the airing of the latest three-part Netflix series, “Harry and Meghan,” the relationship between Prince William and Prince Harry has reached an all-time low.
It has been reported that Prince William has cut off all contact with his younger brother Prince Harry over the accusations that Prince Harry made in the Netflix documentary.
The break-up news was published by one of Britain’s most popular royal correspondents. Roya Nikkhah, a British journalist for the Sunday Times. She wrote in a tweet that Prince William severed all communication with his brother. The tweet accompanied an article about the fallout of the royal family due to the docuseries “Harry and Meghan,” which was released in full Thursday by Netflix.
Nikkhah, a renowned royal correspondent for Sky News, BBC, and many more media companies, referenced two witnesses who claim to be close friends of Prince William. They told the correspondent that William was displeased with the revelations in the Netflix series. In the documentary, Prince Harry said that Prince William and his father, King Charles, had screamed at him when the couple met with their close family to discuss their plans to terminate their royal duties and move out of the UK in 2020.
The last part of the documentary saw the couple put their boxing gloves on as Harry accused William of working against Harry and Meghan with the British tabloids and conspiring to plant stories about Meghan and Harry that were damaging to them, presumably in order to hide other scandalous stories about other members of the royal family from media publishers.
One of Prince William’s friends told Nikkhah that the relationship between the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Sussex had already been strained for a while. It was said that following the documentary, William decided to cut off ties with his brother and had no plans to speak to him in the future.
Buckingham Palace refused to comment on the Netflix series, and Kensington Palace, where Prince William’s press office is based, did not address the accusations made by Prince Harry.
In the documentary, Harry said that his brother’s press office traded stories about him, and especially about his wife, Meghan, with the British press so they would not print unflattering stories about William or the rest of the royal family.
Harry said he refused to participate in the trading gossip business. He said that he and his brother had once promised each other to have each other’s backs.
Prince William may feel that Prince Harry doesn’t have his back.
Harry said their damaged relationship was the saddest part of the ordeal.
He admitted that even though he understood that William was on the side of the royal institution because that is his inheritance, he was saddened by the rift it had caused between them.
The Netflix documentary reveals why Harry and Meghan left the UK, and the British media harassment was the biggest influence on their decision. The couple said they realized the Palace was unwilling to protect Meghan from the tabloids, and for their safety, they had to leave.
When they moved out of the UK, first to Canada and later to the US, the royal family took away the security staff that were protecting Harry and his family. They were “fed to the wolves.”
