Man With WWI Explosive Stuck in His Rectum Causes Bomb Scare and Hospital Evacuation

An 88-year-old man checked into a hospital in Southern France and shocked the hospital staff when he said he had a World War I bomb stuck up his derrière (rectum).

The elderly man checked into the Sainte Musse Hospital, in Toulon on Saturday, December 17. He asked the stunned doctors to remove the object.

The hospital staff got spooked and thought the 100-year-old bomb could still detonate, so they evacuated the hospital.

Bomb disposal experts at the scene reassured staff that there was little to no chance that the century-old bomb would explode inside the man’s body. They told hospital officials that the bomb was a collector’s item from World War I used by the French military.

A hospital spokesperson released a statement confirming that there was a bomb scare in the hospital from 9 pm to 11:30 pm on Saturday. The hospital evacuated all its patients.

After bomb experts assured the doctors that the bomb was safe, they settled down and started working on removing it with a surgical procedure.

Speaking to a French media outlet, one of the doctors said that they were used to seeing people come in with unusual items inserted in places they shouldn’t be, including mangoes, apples, or even a can of shaving foam. Still, they had never seen anyone insert a bomb in their bottom before.

After the procedure, doctors measured the shell and said it was eight inches long and about two inches wide.

The hospital spokesperson said the 88-year-old was recuperating well.

Even though hospital staff was stunned, believe it or not, it was not the first-time bomb experts responded to a bomb scare in a hospital because of a bomb shell lodged in a person’s butt.

In December 2021, Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, Gloucestershire, England, admitted a man with a World War II bomb in his bum. The man told reporters that he had slipped and fallen on the bomb that was in his military collection. Believe it or not.
