Meghan Markle and Prince Harry appeared at the 2022 Robert Kennedy Human Rights Ripple of Hope Gala on December 6 in New York. Meghan was wearing a stunning ring from Princess Diana’s jewelry collection.
Clad in a custom-made Nicolas Ghesquière for Louis Vuitton white gown, the star of the show was a gorgeous, huge, emerald-cut aquamarine ring that was worn by her late mother-in-law.
The ring has been worn by the Duchess before. It was made by a British jewelry brand, Asprey, in the late 1990s and is worth about $90,000. Meghan wore it in 2018 at her wedding reception at the Frogmore cottage. She also donned the ring during the couple’s tour in Tonga in October 2018.
The late Princess Diana first showed off the ring in 1996 during a trip to Australia. The princess was seen wearing the ring again in 1997 during a private viewing and charity event at Christie’s for the Aid Crisis Trust.
Prince Harry has given Meghan several pieces from his mother’s jewelry collection. He took two diamonds from Princess Diana’s collection to create Meghan’s engagement ring. He combined the diamonds with a larger one from Botswana, as a souvenir of the time they had visited the African country during their courtship. Prince Harry said that he designed the ring knowing that Meghan would love it. Meghan said the ring was special not only for its connection to their budding romance in Botswana, but also for the connection to Harry’s mother.
Meghan was also previously seen in public wearing a gold Cartier watch worth $23,000, which was owned by Princess Diana.
Meghan was a picture of elegance as she gracefully walked the red carpet in her white gown which left her shoulders bare. Her hair was pulled back into a bun.
The couple’s highly anticipated Netflix documentary, “Harry and Meghan,” streamed the first three episodes on December 8 and continues on December 15. Buckingham Palace and the British people have responded with mixed reviews about the docuseries which revealed some bombshells but mostly focused on the couple’s early days in their relationship.
The Netflix documentary is about the romance between Harry and Meghan, Meghan’s experience with the royal family, issues with her own family, especially her father, and what led up to the couple’s exit from their royal duties and their move to the United States.
The first episodes show photos not previously seen and center mostly on the couple’s relationship and the reaction of the British media. Issues that caused stress and strain on their relationship with the rest of the royal family are introduced and paint a picture of a couple in love who are torn between their commitment to each other and the pressures of the outside world.
