A woman who had just finalized her divorce with her husband after 15 years of marriage, found out on Wednesday, January 18 that he was murdered at his Hollywood, Florida workplace.
The man killed inside the Wartsila North America facility at 2900 SW 42nd Street was identified as 40-year-old Ferdinand “Andy” Williams. His death was confirmed by his ex-wife, Orbrina Williams.
Mrs. Williams was still in shock about what happened. She said she is baffled by the murder and she knew her ex-husband as someone who just “walked away.” She described him as a “gentle soul,” a great husband, and a kind man known by others as someone they could depend on.
Williams had three children. According to Orbrina, their four-year-old still doesn’t know that his dad was killed. “He just thinks daddy is sick,” she said.
The family is demanding justice for what happened to the victim.
Hollywood Police confirmed that 31-year-old Bryan Menocal, a worker at the facility, killed Williams using a sledgehammer. The victim was found on Wednesday, lying face down and swimming in his own blood after being struck on the head several times.
Staff at the facility told the police that they saw Menocal enter with the murder weapon and that he confessed to killing Williams. He was later found and arrested outside his apartment in Deerfield Beach. Court documents indicated that he had “a depraved mind without regard for human life.”
Menocal is charged with second-degree murder without bond and was brought to Broward County’s Main Jail.
