A mother of three from Massachusetts allegedly murdered two of her children and injured a third on Tuesday, January 24, in what is believed to be a murder-suicide attempt.
Police arrested 32-year-old Lindsay Clancy and charged her with two homicide counts, three strangulation counts, and three assault and battery with a deadly weapon counts for the death of her daughter Cora, 5, and her son Dawson, 3, according to the Plymouth County District Attorney.
Clancy, a nurse who worked for Massachusetts General Hospital before the tragedy, is hospitalized in Boston after she jumped from a window in her Duxbury home, about 35 miles from Boston.
District Attorney, Timothy J. Cruz said during a news conference that her husband called 911 after he found her injured from the jump. Responding officers found all three children unconscious and with obvious signs of trauma.
The children were rushed to the hospital, where Cora and Dawson died shortly after. Their seven-month-old little brother survived the ordeal and was transported to Boston Children’s Hospital for further treatment.
Police are looking into the possibility that Clancy might have been suffering from postpartum psychosis. She was on leave from her work at the time of the incident and will be taken into custody once she recovers from her injuries.
