Melania Trump, 52, the ex-First Lady of the United States, and former fashion model, was said to be very concerned about visitors entering the private residence in the White House without her being told in advance.
She did not appreciate having her privacy invaded by people like Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell, unannounced, who were what she considered to be bad advisors to her husband in the last months of his term.
She also didn’t feel comfortable about Giuliani seeing her in her bathrobe.
Her feelings were shared with her former Chief of Staff, Stephanie Grisham, who told the story to the House Select Committee investigating the January 6 Capitol riot.
In a transcript released by the House Committee panel, during her testimony in May, Grisham said that Melania hated when people would visit the private residence without her getting a prior warning. She said Melania considered the White House residential areas her home and her privacy was invaded. Towards the end of Trump’s presidency, Melania told Grisham that there were always people meeting in the Yellow Oval, a room in the residence.
According to the transcript, Melania told Grisham that no one told her when people would be coming to the residence and she was afraid of being caught “not dressed for company.”
Before joining the White House staff, Grisham was part of Trump’s 2016 campaign staff. She was one of Melania’s top aides for three of Donald Trump’s years in office before she resigned after the January 6 riot.
She worked as the White House Press Secretary between July 2019 and April 2020, but she had a bad working relationship with Mark Meadows, the former Chief of Staff for the president. It’s said he forced her out of her job, and she returned to the First Lady’s team as her Chief of Staff.
Melania criticized Mark Meadows for what she considered to be his failure to give her husband good advice during his last months as president. Grisham also said she was surprised that Melania did not speak up about Trump’s claims about election fraud, indicating that Melania didn’t approve of the election fraud lies.
Grisham said that the First Lady did not like it when people told the former president what he wanted to hear instead of telling him the facts and reality of the situation.
The former aide said Melania was distrustful of a number of people, including Jenna Ellis, Rudy Giuliani, and Sidney Powell. She phoned Ronna McDaniel, the Republican National Committee Chair, several times to ask where Trump was in the polls because she did not trust the campaign staff to give her and Trump the correct information.
