Prince Harry just released his shocking memoir, “Spare.” In the book, he writes about many titillating subjects, including so-called conspiracy theories related to his mother’s death.
Harry was 12 years old when his mother, Princess Diana died in 1997. In the new book, Harry tackles the mystery around her death in the Paris Alma tunnel while she was being chased by paparazzi.
He writes that even now, 26 years later, there are details about his mother’s death that could not be explained. He says that he is still unsure why his mother’s driver lost control of the Mercedes during the accident in Paris.
The official conclusion after an investigation was that the driver, Henri Paul, was driving at a high speed while under the influence of alcohol and prescription drugs.
In his memoir “Spare,” Harry says that several years ago, he drove through the famous tunnel, and came to the conclusion that it is almost “impossible” to lose control of a car there unless you are entirely blinded at the wheel. He writes that he asked to view images from the police report, but he did not ask for a new investigation.
He continues to wonder what really happened that tragic day.
There are several conspiracy theories surrounding the accident in the Paris Alma tunnel. The most shocking one was a statement by Dodi Fayed’s father. Dodi Fayed was Princess Diana’s boyfriend who was in the car and was also killed in the accident. Mohamed Fayed said that Prince Philip (the Queen’s husband and Harry’s grandfather) ordered the security services to kill the couple. A coroner rejected the theory.
Prince Harry wrote that he remembers the moment his father walked into his room and sat on the edge of his bed at Balmoral Castle and told him that his mother had died. He described how his father did not embrace him.
He admitted that Princess Diana’s passing caused him to cry only once. He remembered shaking the damp hands of mourners who were distraught at the tragic news of his mother’s death.
Prince Harry said that he doesn’t have many childhood memories from before his mother’s death. He also wrote that, like other individuals who have suffered loss, he is unable to bring the memories back.
The death of his mother was notably the most traumatic incident in his life. Harry told “Good Morning America” co-anchor Michael Strahan that for a long time, he refused to believe that his mother was really dead.
One of the main reasons Prince Harry moved his family to California was because he never wants to see history repeat itself. He does not want his children to grow up without a mother or a father, and felt his family was in danger in the UK.
