Another mass shooting in Florida has left 11 people injured, with two of them in critical condition, police said. It was the sixth mass shooting this month in Florida.

The Lakeland Police Department announced the news on Monday, January 30, saying that two of the injured victims suffered life-threatening injuries, including a man who was shot in the face and another man who was shot in the abdomen, while the rest of the victims had less serious injuries.

Meanwhile, Florida Governor Ron Desantis is promising permitless carry to Floridians.

The 911 dispatcher got a call about a shooting near Plum Street and Iowa Avenue at around 3:43 pm. All the victims were adult males between the ages of 20 and 35.

Lakeland police are searching for the suspects in the shooting.

Police Chief Sam Taylor said that a dark-colored, four-door Nissan pulled up to the crime scene, and the shooters, believed to be four men, started firing from all sides of the car.

Police called the incident a drive-by shooting, and believe that it was not a random attack.

Police Chief Taylor said that this type of incident is unusual in Lakeland, adding that he had never been to a crime scene where that many people were shot at the same time.

He also said that the suspects were wearing masks.

Authorities said they found a large amount of marijuana at the scene, suggesting that the victims might have been selling drugs at the time of the incident.

Since January 1, 2023, there have been 55 mass shootings in the United States, exceeding any other country in the world.

One person died on the same day, and three others were wounded, including a child, in a mass shooting in Dallas.

Police entered an apartment and found four people with gunshot wounds. One of the victims, identified as 24-year-old Shermonda Lewis, died on the scene, and the other three were transported to the hospital. Among the injured was a six-year-old child shot in the cheek.

Police said the suspect opened fire at the apartment but was shot by someone in the apartment.
