Icon singer/actress Madonna wasn’t happy about the negative attention she got after her appearance at the 2023 Grammy Awards on Sunday, February 5.
She fired back on social media and said that her critics were misogynistic and ageist.
The 64-year-old song artist is an LGBTQ+ activist and introduced the performance of the song “Unholy” by Sam Smith and Kim Petras. Petras won the award for Best Duo performance and was the first transgender woman to receive it. Sam Smith, who is nonbinary, won the award with her.
During the award presentation, social media users were making comments about Madonna’s face and speculating about what plastic surgery she had done.
The next day, Madonna responded to the gossip and criticism on Instagram and said that instead of focusing on the award and her speech, people focused on photographs taken by a photographer who Madonna alleges distorted her face.
The seven-time Grammy Award winner took to social media on Tuesday, February 7, to respond to the rumors, speculations, and criticisms, saying that she had once again become the subject of ageism and misogyny that permeates society. She pointed out the frustration strong-willed women older than 45 feel when people concentrate on their looks instead of their abilities and hard work.
She said she will never apologize for her creative choices and how she dresses or looks.
She fired back at the media, saying they always had something bad to say about her, but she could take it.
Her Instagram post ended with “Bow down bitches.”
She ended the Instagram post by writing that she looked forward to many more years of rebellious behavior, standing against superficial comments about her and her body.
In the entertainment business for a long time, Madonna is still a top-selling artist. Tickets to her upcoming show, Madonna: The Celebration Tour, sold over 600,000 tickets in one day. She will perform in London, New York, and Paris with adoring fans.
