A family in Avondale, Ohio experienced two murder-suicides within six months. The whole family is gone.

On Friday, February 3, a mom and her two boys died in a  murder-suicide.

Just six months before, the woman’s estranged husband, 40-year-old Eric Johnson Sr., killed the couple’s six-year-old daughter, Iyla Johnson, and then killed himself after a custody dispute. 

Johnson had barricaded himself in the bedroom with his daughter, while SWAT team officers tried to convince him to return his six-year-old daughter Iyla to her mother, Darlene. After an hour-long stand-off, authorities found Johnson and his daughter’s bodies dead with gunshot wounds in the bedroom.

On Friday, officers received another 911 call and found three unconscious people with gunshot wounds at a home at the Lake of the Woods Apartments. 

The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office said a woman identified as Darlene Flores, 38, and her 16-year-old son Rodrigo Johnson, both died by homicide. Flores’ 19-year-old son Eric Johnson Jr., in the footsteps of his father, committed suicide after killing his mother and brother.
