An Atlanta, Georgia, woman was found guilty of murdering her fiance and hiding his body for two months before police found him.
According to court records, a Hall County jury found 46-year-old Tabitha Zelida Wood guilty of murdering her fiancé and covering up his death for a period of two months.
In June 2022, Leroy Franklin Kramer, Jr.’s stepdaughter reported to police that she was worried for her stepfather’s well-being because she hadn’t heard from him in months.
The chilling discovery was made when deputies from the Hall County Sheriff’s Office went to Kramer’s house to check on his well-being. Authorities arrested Wood after discovering Kramer’s decaying body inside the residence.
Wood was interviewed by police about the man’s death. She explained that Kramer had passed away at the start of April and that she had been keeping his body in the house ever since.
After performing an autopsy on Kramer, the medical examiner concluded that the man had been murdered. The coroner’s report states that Kramer died of blunt and sharp force trauma.The indictment states that Wood delivered traumatic injuries to Kramer’s neck and chest The weapon is not mentioned.
The jury deliberated for less than an hour on Friday, March 17, and found Wood guilty of malice murder, aggravated assault, two felony murder counts, concealing the death of a person, exploiting an older adult, and theft of financial transaction cards.
The Gainesville Times reported that the couple were introduced to each other by a mutual friend, and Kramer said that he was tired of living alone and needed help. After they began dating, Wood moved into his residence in 2020, and they were engaged the following year.
The publication reported that Wood claimed that Kramer “became aggressive,” and he would beat her with a belt, particularly when she refused to have intercourse with him.
On the night of the murder, Wood refused his intimate advances. She told the court that she kicked Kramer out and also testified that she might have blacked out. The Gainesville Times reported that she stayed with the man’s corpse for three days before hiding it in the house because she thought no one would believe her story.
