The most recent episode of the British royal family drama reveals that King Charles III evicted Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from Frogmore Cottage, where they lived since 2018 when they were in the United Kingdom, and gave it to Charles’ disgraced brother, Prince Andrew.
The late Queen Elizabeth II gave the couple Frogmore Cottage as a wedding gift in 2018. The royal couple has lived in the United States since leaving the United Kingdom in 2020.
According to a royal source, the eviction process was started by the King in January, the day after Prince Harry’s gossip-filled memoir “Spare” was released in bookstores and online.
In his book, Prince Harry criticizes the royal family, claiming that his older brother, Prince William, threw him to the ground during a heated discussion and that the Queen Consort Camilla leaked stories about him and Meghan to British tabloid media.
According to a source, Harry and Meghan have no place to stay in the UK following their eviction because the King has not offered them an alternative residence on the massive royal estate.
The couple plans to ship the rest of their belongings to their home in the United States, where they have lived since quitting their royal duties in 2020.
Frogmore Cottage has been offered to Prince Andrew, King Charles’ younger brother. Andrew’s new home would be a significant change from Royal Lodge, his current luxury residence. King Charles is said to want to evict his disgraced brother from the 30-bedroom, pool-equipped mansion on 98 acres of land.
Andrew appears to be opposed to the proposed downgrade. After learning of his involvement in the Jeffrey Epstein sex scandal, the late queen stripped him of his royal duties and titles.
According to sources, the King and his youngest son haven’t spoken since the January release of “Spare.”
This spring, Prince Harry and Meghan were reportedly invited to the King’s coronation in the United Kingdom via email. It remains to be seen whether they will travel and, if so, where they will stay in the UK.
