On Saturday evening, March 11, the Harris County Texas Sheriff’s Office received a call claiming that the caller could not recall seeing one of his neighbors for several months, although he had seen another man entering and exiting the home. Police conducted a welfare check at the residence on Kilwinning Drive in Houston.
When the police came, they noticed flies swarming around and smelled something putrid.
The team entered the home and heard gunshots from inside, according to Harris County Senior Deputy Thomas Gilliland. They discovered the body of a 63-year-old adult male in the bedroom, newly dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Police searched the house and discovered another man’s badly decomposed body. Officers estimated the deceased’s age to be around 64 years old. They also observed that the death had probably occurred several months earlier. To find out what happened to the decomposed man, an autopsy is being performed.
Officials are unclear about the two men’s relationship, but they did apparently live together in the house. According to police, the man who shot himself appeared to have been living with the dead body for several months.
The investigation into the incident is still ongoing. According to police, the evidence indicates a murder-suicide.
