Talk-show host Jimmy Kimmel and actor Matt Damon are still engaged in a hilarious, probably fictitious feud.
The two famous people could not resist the opportunity to insult one another at the most recent premiere of “Air,” which Matt Damon stars in.
When asked by Entertainment Tonight if he and Kimmel would ever reconcile, Damon responded that it was unlikely because Kimmel is an “a-hole” and questioned why he would ever reconcile with him.
Damon persisted in belittling Kimmel, calling him a bad person and a terrible human being. He exclaimed that he would have loved to take a photo with Kimmel but that they were out of time, as he turned to face Kimmel, who was standing right behind him.
The remark made reference to a joke that Kimmel told in 2005 that ignited the conflict. At the end of an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! the host said that he wanted to apologize to Matt Damon, but they had run out of time.
It was supposed to be funny, and turned into a drama that lasted for years.
The actor and the comedian have engaged in a comical feud for almost 20 years as a result of that remark, and it eventually became a recurring theme on the program.
On March 27, Kimmel finally had the opportunity to speak with Entertainment Tonight at the “Air” world premiere, which was held at the Regency Village Theatre in Los Angeles. Kimmel did not pass up the chance to put down Damon. He said he did not know who Damon was but had heard him because the actor was so loud.
Damon refuted Kimmel’s assertions that he was the person wearing the infamous cocaine bear costume at the Oscars in February.
The jokes follow Kimmel’s hosting of the Academy Awards ceremony a few weeks ago. When he questioned Jessica Chastain about the challenges of filming “The Martian,” Kimmel poked fun at Damon and said her co-star can’t read and always smells like dog medicine.
Kimmel also told Entertainment Tonight that he doesn’t see any possibility of a reconciliation on his show ever occurring.
