On March 7, police said a New Jersey man killed his wife and son before turning the gun on himself.
On Tuesday morning at 10 a.m., a concerned citizen called the Roxbury Police Department to request a welfare check on a family in Succasunna. When police arrived, they discovered three bodies inside the house, all of whom had been shot.
Peter Ventricelli, 57, his wife Kellie Ventricelli, 58, and their son Anthony Ventricelli, 15, were all found dead, according to a statement released by the Morris County prosecutor’s office.
Having been unable to get in touch with them, a friend had called the police to request a welfare check on the family.
According to the press release issued by the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, domestic violence was a contributing factor in the murder-suicide.
Peter Ventricelli, allegedly killed his wife and son before turning the gun on himself. No motive for the murder-suicide has been revealed, and prosecutors claim police were never called to the couple’s house before the killings.
Attorney Carroll stated at a press conference that he and Morris County Sheriff James Gannon had concluded that domestic violence was to blame for the incident. This, as Gannon put it, “affects all of us. We seem to be dealing with a case of domestic violence here.”
Reporters were told by a neighbor that the teen was a kind and generous person.
Neighbors say the husband was an independent contractor and his wife was a teacher at a local preschool.
To help pay for the funeral, family members started a GoFundMe page. According to the page, the demise of the family also signifies the end of the family business. There was a mention that some of the money raised would go toward helping the grandparents remain in their own home. Over $57,000 has been raised thanks to the page.
