On Tuesday, police in Hong Kong began searching a landfill for more missing body parts following the brutal murder of 28-year-old model Abby Choi, whose body parts were discovered in pots and a refrigerator on February 24.

Police discovered Choi’s remains in a Hong Kong neighborhood at a rental property owned by her ex-father-in-law, Kwong Kau. Alex Kwong, his father Kwong Kau, and his brother Anthony Kwong have all been charged with murder in the death of Choi. A woman was also detained on mainland China, according to Hong Kong police on Tuesday, March 7.

According to Police Superintendent Alan Chung, an electric saw and a meat grinder were discovered in the house, with traces of human flesh.

Jenny Li, Alex Kwong’s mother, has been charged with obstructing justice. Nobody was allowed to post bond, so they were all detained. A second woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting the accused, but she was released on bail pending further investigation. According to authorities, she had an affair with Choi’s ex-father-in-law, Kwong Kau.

Seven people have been arrested in connection with the murder.

Over a hundred officers dressed in protective gear arrived at the North East New Territories Landfill in Ta Kwu Ling on Tuesday morning to search for the missing body parts with excavators and shovels. Ta Kwu Ling is only about 30 minutes away from mainland China. Both Choi’s hands and body were still missing, according to police reports.

According to Superintendent Chung, the suspects threw away several bags containing critical evidence on February 22 in the morning. These could include the victim’s clothing and phone, as well as the weapons used in the murder.

Choi, who had more than 100,000 followers on Instagram, went missing on February 21. Her most recent social media post, dated February 19, featured a photo shoot she did for the fashion magazine L’Officiel Monaco.

Choi, her ex-husband and his family had a massive money dispute involving millions of Hong Kong dollars.

Because Hong Kong is a semi-autonomous city in southern China with a low prevalence of violent crime, the horrific death has shocked both locals and mainland residents.

Choi is survived by two children, who have been placed in the care of their grandmother.
