The suspect in the sickening shooting that shocked both police and neighbors was apprehended on March 1. He is the real dad of one of the four victims found dead in an apartment in Florida’s Canaveral Groves.
Sheriff Wayne Ivey described the incident as “horrific.” Around 2 a.m., Brevard County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the home, where they found the bodies of two women, a teenager, and a man. All four were declared deceased on the spot, and two children, ages six and nine, were found uninjured in the house.
Sheriff Ivey stated that the bodies were discovered after a child reported the situation using FaceTime or a similar app. After 12 hours, the suspect was apprehended.
Domenico Gigante, 36, killed his daughter Kiarra, her mother, her grandmother, and a man who had two children with Kiarra’s mother. In connection with the deaths of Glenda Terwilliger, 63, Michael Andrew Watson, 36, Constance Terwilliger, 35, and Kiarra Terwilliger, 15.
Gigante was arrested at the Brevard County Detention Complex and appeared in court for charges on Thursday morning.
Battery and domestic abuse charges were also filed against the suspect in 2005, followed by numerous animal cruelty charges in 2008 and aggravated assault and battery with a lethal weapon in 2012. Gigante, according to Sheriff Ivey, stabbed a dog before killing another by smashing its head on a table and breaking its neck. Ivey said he should have been imprisoned much earlier.
Gigante, according to a roommate, threatened to murder them all on Tuesday because of his tense relationship with his daughter. Court documents backed up this account. It was unclear whether the roommate warned anyone about the threat and whether the atrocious event could have been avoided.
Following the May 2012 case in which a mother shot and murdered her four children before killing herself, the recent four homicides are the bloodiest single murder case in Brevard County, Florida.
