A tragic car accident was reported on a Tennessee highway north of Nashville early on Sunday, March 23. According to Robertson County Emergency Medical Services, the vehicle was discovered at approximately 2:00 a.m., flipped and severely damaged.
Six of the vehicle’s occupants perished in the collision. Six girls aged between one and 18 were among the fatalities. All of the passengers were ejected from the vehicle.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the victims were apparently not wearing seatbelts. The accident’s cause has not yet been determined.
Two additional adults, a man and a woman, were reportedly injured. A woman identified as Saira Reyes, age 34, was badly hurt and received emergency care at the scene. She was then transported by air ambulance to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. A young man, the driver Anthony Gallardo, 18, was transported to TriStar Skyline Trauma Center in Nashville. His current condition is stable.
A second damaged vehicle was spotted nearby. The driver reportedly sustained no injuries.
Authorities urged residents to take the time to ensure that all vehicle occupants are wearing seatbelts.
