A shooting at a house party in Douglasville, Georgia, killed at least two teens and injured six others after a shooter opened fire inside the home, which was crowded with over a hundred youths, according to police.

According to a statement released by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, they were called to the home around 11 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, with reports of gunfire that erupted in a home in Douglasville, 20 miles outside Atlanta.

The sheriff’s office stated on Facebook on Sunday that there was a house party in the home with over 100 teenagers in attendance. The celebration was for a sweet 16 birthday. According to the homeowner, some of the partygoers were smoking pot.

A fight broke out near the end of the night, prompting the shooting.

The injured were scattered into neighboring yards, and one of the homes was hit by a bullet.

Three of the injured were taken to hospitals by EMS, while the other three were taken to hospitals by other people on the scene.

Douglas police have not yet arrested anyone in connection with the fatal shooting and have stated that they are still investigating a motive for the attack.

Police have not yet released any additional information about the teenagers who died, such as their names, ages, and causes of death. However, the party was attended by many teenagers in the neighborhood, and their parents posted on social media that the two deceased were teenagers.

One of the parents of the teenagers in attendance posted on Facebook that the ordeal had traumatized her, her child, and her child’s friends.

A neighbor who lives in the house next door to where the shooting occurred spoke to a news outlet about the incident. Aerial Gardner told ABC affiliate WSB-TV that she and her children were at home when they heard gunshots.

Gardner said they took cover when the shooting began, and her children cowered on the floor, terrified.
