On March 19, at around 6 pm on Sunday night, a man was waiting for a train on a subway station in Brooklyn, New York City, NYC when someone suddenly, unprovoked, pushed him against a moving train.
The victim, a 36-year-old man, was on the platform of the 59th Street station in Sunset Park, Brooklyn when the suspect, out-of-the-blue pushed him into the northbound “R” train.
The man was fortunate that he did not fall onto the tracks. Instead, he bounced off the train and landed on the platform.
He sustained multiple cuts, bruises and was bleeding from an injury to his head. He was immediately transported to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn. According to reports, his condition is was stable.
No words were exchanged between the two underground occupants, and the suspect immediately escaped.
The attacker might have been able to get away, but security cameras caught him in the act. The police are now looking for the suspect. He is clearly seen on surveillance footage, and is light-skinned with a beard. He was seen wearing a dark down-type jacket, a black winter hat, jeans, and white-and-black sneakers.
Police statistics show that major crime in the NYC subway system has decreased for serious felonies by 21.5% this year compared to the same period in 2022. Burglaries statistics remain the same, with two reported.
