The host of the game show, “Wheel of Fortune,” Pat Sajak, tackled one of the contestants during an episode that aired on Tuesday, March 21.
The player, Fred Jackson, had revealed that he was a professional wrestler at the start of the episode.
The strange incident at the end of the game show may have been caused by Jackson’s claim that he performs in wrestling for little or no pay and mostly for fun.
At the end of the show, Pat Sajak, a 76-year-old TV legend, rushed over to Jackson and put him in a headlock and arm lock. Jackson seemed to shriek and be in pain in front of the cameras.
On their Instagram page, the game show shared a clip of Jackson solving a game puzzle. This earned him an additional $40,000, bringing his total winnings to $75,800.
The jubilant Jackson hugged his father, who was on stage, after his incredible victory, just as Sajak entered the frame of the camera and tackled him.
Sajak’s remarks throughout the evening, in which he frequently made fun of Jackson for being a wrestler, built up to that moment.
Jackson was called a “brute” by Sajak, who then asked the other players if they wanted to body-slam the wrestler.
The interaction between Sajak and the contestant was immediately noted by viewers as odd, with one asking on Instagram what was wrong with Sajak at the conclusion of the show.
Another person commented that it wasn’t just a flawless game but also another odd showdown between Sajak and a player.
Another poster cautioned the host not to fall, appearing concerned for him.
Other fans found the incident amusing, with one saying the show was good and the ending was funny and another saying it was entertaining to watch.
Sajak has run into strange situations with contestants before. He pulled a man’s beard two weeks ago.
Since 1981, Sajak has hosted The Wheel of Fortune. To spice up the show, he has had to come up with 42 years’ worth of ideas.
