A domestic conflict in New Jersey led to the death of two people, including a little girl.
The quiet town of Roselle, New Jersey, was left reeling after a gruesome double homicide on April 19 left a mother and her young daughter dead. The incident, which occurred as a result of a family conflict, has left the local community in shock.
Keisha Morrison, 45, and her daughter Kelsey Morrison, 9, were brutally murdered in their own home, where authorities discovered their bodies concealed beneath a bed. The heinous crime was committed using an axe, which was later found hidden under a mattress.
Police have since arrested a suspect, 44-year-old Everoy J. Morrison, in connection with the murders. He was apprehended in Maryland following a traffic stop involving a stolen silver BMW with New Jersey registration plates. Currently detained in a Baltimore detention center, Everoy faces charges related to the stolen vehicle and awaits extradition to New Jersey.
Disturbingly, the suspect had been living in the basement of the victims’ home and is the half-brother of Keisha’s husband, Gary Morrison. According to Atasha Scott, Keisha’s sister-in-law, Keisha had asked Everoy to vacate the property, but he refused to comply.
Upon discovering his wife and daughter’s lifeless bodies wrapped in sheets, the distraught Gary Morrison also found the murder weapon and observed evidence of an attempted cleanup of the crime scene. Bloodstains on the floor had seemingly been partially removed.
The heartbreaking tragedy comes just days before Kelsey was set to celebrate her 10th birthday. The community of Roselle is now left grappling with the aftermath of this harrowing act of violence, seeking answers as to how a family dispute could escalate to such a devastating conclusion.
