Police say that an eight-year-old Florida boy was arrested after allegedly slitting the throat of another child and threatening to “kill everyone” nearby.
The eight-year-old and a 13-year-old foster child who shared his home got into a fight on Saturday, March 11, around 4:30 pm.
According to a police report, the younger boy, whose identity has not been released because of his age, grabbed the older boy and started choking him. He didn’t let go until the older boy complained that he couldn’t breathe and managed to get away from him.
When the incident occurred, an adult present yanked the knife from the eight-year-old.
After threatening to “kill everyone,” the young assailant fled in search of the knife.
The boy allegedly attempted to hit the victim with a stick after he couldn’t find the knife, but the other kids in the house intervened.
The young child was crying and pleading with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputies not to lock him up when they arrived.
As they attempted to handcuff him and take him to a juvenile detention facility, the boy allegedly started to kick one of the officers and the car.
Although the 13-year-old victim had a three-inch laceration on his neck, his injuries were not severe, and after being examined by paramedics, he declined to be taken to a hospital. Police say that throughout the medical examination, he was awake and focused.
The younger boy, who has a violent past, is accused of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and strangulation battery.
