A day after he went missing on Thursday, March 30, Taylen Mosley, age two, was found dead inside an alligator’s mouth in Florida.
After learning that the missing boy’s mother, Pashun Jeffery, 20, had been found dead in her apartment from multiple stab wounds, police in St. Petersburg began looking for him.
According to an arrest report, on Wednesday, the mom, Jeffery, hosted a party at her Lincoln Shores apartment for the boy’s father Thomas Mosley’s 21st birthday. She and her son weren’t seen alive after the guests left at about 5:15 pm.
Police allege that after the party, Mosley went to the lake with his son and threw him in the lake, before he showed up at Jeffery’s house by himself at around nine o’clock in the evening with severe cuts on his arms, and killed her.
On Thursday at around 2:30 pm, Jeffery’s family members went to see how she was doing after becoming concerned when they couldn’t get in touch with her. After asking the management to unlock the door, they discovered the woman’s body inside with over a hundred stabbing wounds and no sign of the boy or his father.
Police used a helicopter and drones to conduct a wide-scale search after issuing an Amber Alert for the toddler.
When a person reported seeing what appeared to be a body inside an alligator’s mouth, police officers responded. They killed the beast in Lake Maggiore by shooting it, causing the alligator to release the boy’s body.
According to the police, the child’s body was intact and it was unclear how the boy had died before ending up in the alligator’s mouth.
The cause of the boy’s death will be determined by the medical examiner.
Thomas Mosley has been charged by police with two counts of first-degree murder, and he is currently being held without bond.
