Bryan Kohberger, the suspect in the brutal killings of four students at the University of Idaho last year, is causing chaos for his family.
After Bryan Kohberger’s arrest last year, his sisters Melissa and Amanda Kohberger lost their jobs.
Last year, police in Albrightsville, Pennsylvania, detained Kohberger at his home. After allegedly killing Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin, he traveled more than 2,000 miles across the country with his father to his family home in Pennsylvania.
Prosecutors have not yet announced if they will pursue the death penalty. Kohberger will face the court again on June 26.
The family declared in a press release in January that they would support Kohberger despite the heinous accusations leveled against him and the weight of the evidence pointing to his guilt.
Months later, Kohberger’s family is still dealing with the consequences of the criminology student’s arrest.
According to reports, Melissa Kohberger, a mental health school counselor, and Amanda, an actress, both lost their jobs.
The family’s financial situation is reportedly dire.
Kohberger’s family has not visited the prisoner since being arrested, but they have stayed in touch via phone. The suspect is isolated, but he is given some privileges, like access to his TV. According to a fellow prisoner, the alleged murderer obsessively watches news reports about himself throughout the day.
Kohberger is being held in custody in Idaho and is reportedly being kept in isolation because of the horrific nature of his crimes, which would make him a target if he were allowed to be housed with other inmates.
