Over the past two months, four bodies have been discovered in Lady Bird Lake, Texas, with the most recent being found last Saturday, April 15.
According to the Austin Fire Department, the fourth victim was found dead near Longhorn Dam on Saturday afternoon. It is unknown how the person ended up in the water, but police have said there is no evidence of foul play.
The three previous bodies discovered in Lady Bird Lake include Jason John, who was last seen on Rainey Street while out with friends before he disappeared on February 5. He was later found dead on February 13. Police found the body of Jonathan Honey, who disappeared in the early hours of March 31. He was found in the same area on April 1. Police found a third body on March 5, but did not release any further information about the victim or the circumstances of their disappearance.
The discovery of the bodies in the lake over the last couple of months has caused concern among the public, with people speculating that they might be connected to criminal activities.
However, despite the speculations, police have said that there is no evidence of foul play in any of the cases. The Travis County Medical Examiner’s office conducted autopsies on the three previous victims and did not find signs of foul play or physical trauma.
However, police noted that two common themes tying the victims together were alcohol consumption and easy access to the lake.
The latest death is under investigation, and the police have stated that the demographics, circumstances, and exact locations surrounding these cases vary.
During a press conference, Officer Michael Bullock reassured the public on some of their concerns about the case, stating that investigators had not noticed anything criminal in connection with the deaths so far.
The department released a statement saying their investigators were objectively examining all evidence in each case.
