Twin sisters are facing murder charges after prosecutors accused them of killing their father in their Rhode Island home, court documents show.
Danielle Pamula, 38, told police that she had found her father, Joseph J. Pamula Jr., 70, and her twin sister, Jennifer Pamula, 38, lying on the floor of their home after she woke up from a nap on January 30. Danielle claimed that Jennifer and Joseph had been arguing about selling their home and disposing of a dozen cats before she fell asleep.
Responding officers found Joseph with garden shears sticking out of his neck, obviously having died violently. Jennifer was also lying unconscious on the floor with a bunch of pills nearby. When she woke up, she allegedly told authorities that she had to do it.
Responding officers rushed her to the hospital for treatment and she was later charged with domestic murder in the first degree.
Danielle eventually admitted that she had also been involved in her father’s killing after police confronted her about the matching injuries on her and her twin sister’s hands.
Special Assistant Attorney General, Jessica Villella, said both women had participated in their father’s brutal murder. Authorities confirmed that Joseph had suffered blunt force trauma as well as the injury from the garden shears.
Danielle’s first court appearance was on Friday, March 31, for one count of murder and she has not yet entered her plea, and Jennifer has pleaded not guilty. The women are being held without bail.
Authorities reported that they had previously responded to the home for minor incidents. However, Chief Thomas Oates of Woonsocket Police said that none of those issues had involved violence.
The incident shocked and disturbed the community as the sisters reportedly had no criminal history or known issues with their father before his murder. The case is still ongoing, and the motive for the murder is yet to be determined.
