An Ohio woman was given a two-year sentence earlier this month for sending her dogs to viciously attack young children, leaving a six-year-old girl hospitalized with serious injuries.
Thirty-eight-year-old Cassie Thierauf will spend the next two years in jail for the ruthless attack carried out by her dogs on small children, which was caused by a dispute with one of the children’s mothers.
According to online court records, Thierauf pleaded guilty to a child endangerment charge as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors for the 2022 attack.
On August 25, 2022, Thierauf was getting high in the backyard of a house with another person when the six-year-old victim’s mother, who lives on the other side of the home, started video recording her on her phone. An argument broke out between the two women, and sometime during the argument, the six-year-old’s mother went back to her house to call the police.
Thierauf, obviously unhappy with the mother, sent her pit bull/boxer mix to attack a group of children playing in front of the home. The victims were the six-year-old girl, her sister, and a young neighbor, who were playing outside in the front yard.
The dog viciously attacked the six-year-old girl, who suffered bite marks on her body and head and required multiple surgeries.
Thierauf was confronted in court by the victim’s father, who said she ordered two dogs to attack four little girls just playing. According to the girl’s dad, his six-year-old daughter was mauled by the two dogs while Thierauf stood on her front porch watching.
In a video played in court, Thierauf can be heard telling the girl’s mother that her kids should not have messed with her and her dogs.
Despite pleading guilty, Thierauf denied using her dogs maliciously or threateningly.
Authorities will take away Thierauf’s dogs and euthanize them since they are considered dangerous.
