Police are actively searching for multiple shooters believed to be responsible for the fatal shooting of a young boy while he was playing video games in his bed.
The incident occurred in Lynchburg, Virginia, and was captured by surveillance cameras. Police are analyzing the footage, which shows several individuals firing shots into the victim’s home shortly after 11 pm on Monday, May 1. When law enforcement arrived at the scene, they discovered the lifeless body of a six-year-old boy in his bed.
The victim, identified as Kingston Campbell, was in kindergarten. His devastated mother, Shay Fowler, expressed her profound grief in a statement to a local news outlet. She described Kingston as a boy with a special place in her heart, being her only son and youngest child.
Kingston’s two older sisters witnessed the incident while their brother was innocently playing video games. Fowler said that Kingston would often stay up late, sneaking in gaming sessions on his Nintendo Switch, whether it was a school night or not.
Surveillance footage from across the street captured the moment when multiple gunshots were fired into the house before the shooters fled.
A GoFundMe campaign was organized to support the family and help cover the boy’s funeral expenses. The campaign has already collected donations exceeding $15,000.
Police have not arrested any suspects and are urging the public to report any information that could assist in apprehending Kingston’s killers.
