An 18-year-old male has been detained and faces capital murder charges after allegedly murdering his parents, sister, and brother in a Nash, Texas residence.
The Nash police responded to a distress call on Tuesday, May 23, relating to a young man, identified as Cesar Olalde, committing violence against his family and expressing intentions of self-harm. Arriving officers discovered Olalde barricaded within a house.
Officer Craig Buster’s probable cause affidavit reveals that Olalde contacted the police, confessing to the shootings. After negotiations that ended with his peaceful surrender, a search of the premises led to the grim discovery of his parents, Reuben Olalde and Aida Garcia, his elder sister, Lisbet Olalde, and younger brother, Oliver Olalde, all dead in the bathroom.
Per the affidavit, the victims had been shot in various parts of the home before their bodies were moved to the bathroom. The house was littered with spent shell casings and blood stains.
The brutal incident came to light when a coworker of Lisbet Olalde, concerned about her missing work, decided to check on her, accompanied by a relative. On entering the house, they were confronted by Cesar Olalde wielding a gun. The coworker later informed the police that Olalde claimed to have murdered his family, accusing them of being cannibals who intended to harm him.
Following his arrest, Olalde appeared before the Bowie County court, and his bail was set at $10 million.
Nash, near the border with Arkansas, is a small town with an estimated population of around 3,800.
