Videos were recently leaked by Media Matters for America featuring ex-Fox News host Tucker Carlson.
The videos have stirred up a buzz in both the media and political spheres, revealing that Carlson engaged in questionable behavior and made offensive comments, such as calling a woman “yummy” during the recording of his popular show before he was let go.
In the leaked videos, conversations between Carlson and fellow Fox host Piers Morgan show Carlson expressing interest in discussing specific off-color topics if they were brought up on the show. Morgan playfully responded by referring to Carlson’s recent segment on masculinity and joking about his “tanning testicles.”
In another off-camera clip, Carlson is heard jokingly calling someone’s girlfriend “yummy” before quickly clarifying that he was only joking and making fun of the possibility of the footage being leaked to Media Matters, which it was.
The leaked videos have led people to wonder if these comments contributed to Carlson’s getting fired from the network. Although Fox News hasn’t publicly shared the reasons for Carlson’s departure, there is speculation about whether his private messages and comments about network leadership played a role.
The videos came out during a workplace harassment lawsuit filed by former Fox producer Abby Grossberg, who was terminated just before the network settled a large defamation lawsuit filed by Dominion Voting Systems for $787 million. Grossberg has threatened to release more recordings that would expose misconduct by top hosts and big-whigs at Fox.
Another video causing controversy features Carlson making rude comments about his “post-menopausal fans,” – i.e. middle aged women.
The New York Times had previously reported on Carlson’s “yummy” comment based on an anonymous source, but the video evidence was only released on May 2.
After leaving the network, Carlson briefly broke his silence on Twitter. He criticized both Democrats and Republicans and their donors for trying to suppress conversations about their shared interests.
In response to Grossberg’s allegations, Fox dismissed them as baseless and expressed their intent to defend against them.
