Comedian Bill Cosby was again accused of sexual assault in a new lawsuit on Thursday, June 1.

Following the extension of California’s statute of limitations in sexual assault cases, former Playboy model Victoria Valentino, 80, filed her legal complaint against the 85-year-old actor in Los Angeles County Superior Court, six months after five other women lodged a 34-page complaint against Cosby in New York’s Supreme Court.

Valentino alleges in her lawsuit that Cosby drugged and raped her in 1969 at a Los Angeles restaurant after they crossed paths. Initially sharing her claims in 2014, she contends that Cosby approached her while she was grieving the death of her six-year-old son, offering her a pill and assuring her it would alleviate their shared sorrow.

According to the lawsuit, once Valentino consumed the pill, its effects incapacitated her, and Cosby subsequently engaged in non-consensual sexual intercourse with her.

In a press release, Valentino stated that Cosby took advantage of her during a period of deep anguish, amplifying the pain she experienced due to her son’s loss. She expressed her hope that by breaking her silence and speaking her truth, she could leave a legacy for her family and inspire other survivors to find their voices, offering them hope and the possibility of healing.

Responding to the lawsuit, Andrew Wyatt, Cosby’s spokesperson, characterized it as an attack on Black men in America. He criticized Valentino for allegedly spreading unsubstantiated allegations without providing evidence or factual support. Wyatt emphasized the need for the media to scrutinize the inconsistencies in Valentino’s numerous statements, questioning the feasibility of locating potential witnesses to testify on Cosby’s behalf.

Cosby has previously faced accusations of sexual assault. He was found guilty of committing aggravated indecent assault in 2018 based on allegations made by Andrea Constand, a former employee of Temple University, who claimed the comedian allegedly sexually assaulted her in his Pennsylvania home in 2004.

The actor served over two years in prison before his conviction was overturned, leading to his release in June 2021.

In June 2022, a California jury found Cosby guilty of sexually assaulting a then 16-year-old girl, Judy Huth, in 1975 at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles. He was ordered to pay $500,000 in damages.
