Game show host, Drew Carey, made a major announcement during the filming of the 51st season of “The Price Is Right.”
The popular show will no longer hold its filming in the renowned Bob Barker Studio at Television City in Hollywood. Fans learned about this surprising change through a video that was uploaded on the official Instagram account of the show on June 23rd.
Drew Carey, while commenting on the move, said, “This historic stage has been our home for 51 years. I always felt there was magic in the wood of this place, imbued with the joy, the laughter, and all the delightful experiences we’ve had here.”
The final episode of The Price Is Right, shot at the famed Bob Barker Studio, aired on June 26. Drew Carey took up the hosting baton in 2007, succeeding the legendary Bob Barker, who retired at 83.
Reflecting on his journey, Drew talked about the honor of following in the footsteps of iconic figures like Bob Barker and Carol Burnett, and his gratitude for being part of such an extraordinary legacy. However, the news of the relocation has left a number of fans reeling.
Going forward, Haven Studios in Glendale, California will be the new location for filming The Price Is Right. Drew Carey expressed optimism about carrying the positivity and energy from the old studio to the new location and urged fans to watch the last episode filmed on the old stage and to welcome the change with a positive spirit.
While some fans expressed their anticipation for the new stage, others are still coming to terms with the departure from the Bob Barker Studio that was home to the show for over half a century. Questions have been raised about the rationale behind leaving such a historically significant venue.
As the show closes one chapter, The Price Is Right is set to begin a new journey in Glendale, bidding a heartfelt farewell to its longtime filming site.
