Former CNN host Don Lemon expressed his commitment to his truth and said he refused to provide a platform for “liars and bigots,” during his first television interview since his departure from the network after being fired.
While being interviewed by a news station, Lemon voiced his unwavering dedication to truth and Constitutional values as a journalist and a citizen. He made it clear that he stands for righteousness and does not equate Constitution-respecting individuals with those who actively engage in deceit and bigotry.
Lemon articulated that to provide a platform to individuals who refuse to accept valid election outcomes, support rebellions, or propagate false information would be a dereliction of his journalistic duties. He asserted that his adherence to Constitutional principles, specifically the First Amendment’s assurance of freedom of expression and the press, played a major role in his professional accomplishments. Discussing his future career moves, Lemon affirmed that he feels no rush to jump into a new opportunity and will not let external anticipations determine his course.
In a surprising post, Lemon told his followers that he heard about his termination on Twitter, and he expressed surprise that the network’s management did not directly communicate the decision despite his 17-year tenure. A heated televised disagreement with Republican presidential contender Vivek Ramaswamy reportedly triggered his exit. Prior to his termination, Lemon was reassigned to a morning show after facing criticism over his comments about Nikki Haley, another presidential candidate, and about women’s soccer, leading to a mandated sensitivity training and a public apology.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding his next career move, Lemon remains firm in his commitment to truth and the upholding of Constitutional principles.
