In Portland, Oregon, a 32-year-old man has been charged with the murder of his mother, 64, after allegedly striking her with a baseball bat because he felt she never treated him well.
Austin K. Green-Yurick now faces several charges, including second-degree murder, second-degree assault, first-degree assault, and unlawful use of a weapon, as stated in court records.
The aggression occurred on Thursday evening, June 22, around 7:26 pm, prompting a response from Portland police. Authorities had received a report of an assault at a home located in the 1300 block of Northeast 68th Avenue.
According to a probable cause document, Green-Yurick contacted emergency services himself. In the call, he admitted to striking his mother on the head with a baseball bat, stating that his actions were motivated by his dissatisfaction with her treatment of him.
Responding officers arrived at the scene and found the victim with severe, life-threatening injuries. Green-Yurick cooperated fully with law enforcement and was taken into custody without incident. He was later booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center.
Regrettably, the victim passed away on Saturday, June 24, while receiving medical treatment at the hospital.
